Problem
Slalom Canada was gaining traction and needed more people to meet demand. New consultants arrived with different delivery habits. That diversity was useful, but without a shared starting point it could also create inconsistent client experiences and delivery outcomes.
Constraints
The framework had to grow while client work continued. It needed enough consistency to help teams work together without forcing every engagement into the same method.
Approach
I took a just-in-time approach. I documented the practices teams needed at each stage of growth, tested them on live engagements, and expanded the framework as new patterns emerged. I coached practitioners, product owners, and Scrum masters while continuing client delivery.
Outcome
The delivery framework and coaching practice grew with Slalom Canada from one Canadian office into a multi-city consulting business. It gave new and existing teams a common starting point while leaving room for client context and professional judgment.
What I learned
Scale does not require every team to work the same way. It requires a shared starting point that makes differences deliberate instead of accidental.
